Each year, Bloom Magazine proudly presents the Rosa Royo Legacy Award to a risk management professional who exemplifies Rosa’s spirit—compassionate leadership, unwavering integrity, and a deep commitment to employee wellness. This year, we are honored to recognize Sara Platt, Safety and Work Comp Manager at Brookdale Senior Living, as the 2025 recipient.
Sara’s career in workers’ compensation is marked by quiet strength and purposeful impact. For years, she’s worked behind the scenes to ensure that employees feel not only protected, but truly supported. Her approach blends practical strategy with a human-centered mindset—making safety more than a protocol, but a culture rooted in care.
One of Sara’s most influential contributions is the redesign of the SafePath program, which she revitalized with thoughtful intention. Through the creation of safety committees, monthly check-ins, face-to-face visits, and even interactive safety games, she brought structure and energy to a system that empowers employees to stay engaged, informed, and connected. The results speak for themselves: safer workplaces, stronger communication, and teams that feel seen.
What sets Sara apart is her presence. Calm in the chaos, clear in the midst of confusion—she’s the person others turn to when things feel overwhelming. Whether guiding an injured employee through the complexities of the claims process or working closely with teams to improve procedures, she leads with empathy, grace, and reliability. Her dedication doesn’t waver—and it shows.

Sara’s passion for the work is matched by her pursuit of growth. In the past year alone, she earned both her associate and bachelor’s degrees in healthcare, and is preparing to begin her master’s program—a reflection of her drive to keep learning and doing things with excellence. She’s also a respected voice in the industry, frequently speaking on panels and sharing her expertise in complex claims and safety program implementation.
Through every role she plays—educator, advocate, collaborator—Sara leads with heart. Her work embodies what the Rosa Royo Legacy Award was created to celebrate: leadership that lifts others, commitment that goes beyond the job description, and a deep belief in doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
We are proud to honor Sara Platt for her meaningful contributions to the workers’ compensation community and for the way she continues to lead—with intention, integrity, and care.
