Deanna Manley: Claims Adjuster at AmTrust

BLOOM Magazine had the privilege of sitting down with Deanna Manley, a Claims Adjuster at AmTrust, who embodies resilience, dedication, and the pursuit of self-improvement. With over 15 years of experience in the workers' compensation industry, Deanna has navigated challenges with unwavering determination, balancing her career with the responsibilities of being a single mother to her two children.

Deanna's journey into the workers' compensation industry wasn't planned, but it quickly became her calling. Starting as a claims assistant, she worked tirelessly to support adjusters, eventually earning her stripes as a claims adjuster. "I hustled day in and day out to provide for my kids, even without any support," she shares passionately.

Throughout her career, Deanna has witnessed significant shifts in the industry, particularly in the focus on mental health and return-to-work programs. "Mental health was always important, but now more than ever, employers are recognizing its significance," she notes.

Motivated by her children, Deanna finds purpose in helping others navigate the complexities of workers' compensation. "I love being the 'extra adjuster,' going above and beyond for others during unexpected moments," she says with pride. Currently, Deanna is working on her self-care healing journey, finding solace in activities like nature walks and beach visits. Her dedication to self-improvement reflects her commitment to personal growth despite facing challenges. When asked about her proudest accomplishment, Deanna reflects on overcoming memory and focus issues early in her career. "I sought help, learned about my learning disability, and became an exceptional employee," she shares. Since then, she has been named Employee of the Year every year, a testament to her resilience.

In her spare time, Deanna finds solace and joy in simple yet meaningful activities. Playing with her children isn't just a pastime; it's a cherished moment where she can connect with her greatest sources of inspiration and motivation. Whether it's reading a book or taking nature walks, Deanna prioritizes self-care and relaxation, understanding the importance of balancing her demanding career with personal fulfillment.

As a woman leader in a male-dominated industry, Deanna is acutely aware of the challenges and biases that women often face. However, instead of succumbing to these obstacles, she sees them as opportunities to uplift and empower her fellow women. Deanna believes in the collective strength of women and advocates for fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Her commitment to championing gender equality extends beyond her professional endeavors, embodying her belief that when women support each other, they can achieve remarkable feats together.

Looking ahead, Deanna's aspirations extend far beyond her current role. She envisions herself stepping into the spotlight as a public speaker, sharing her journey of self-healing and resilience to inspire others facing similar challenges. Through her advocacy, she hopes to instill a sense of hope and positivity, reminding individuals that even in the darkest of times, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Deanna emphasizes the importance of empathy and open communication in the workers' compensation industry. She understands that behind every claim is a person with unique needs and challenges, and believes that approaching each case with compassion and understanding is essential. Deanna's vision for the industry is one where judgment is replaced with empathy, and where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Deanna's story serves as a powerful reminder that with resilience, determination, and a supportive community, we can overcome any obstacle and emerge stronger than ever. Her journey exemplifies the transformative power of perseverance and serves as a beacon of hope for anyone navigating their own path to success.
