Mayra Cortes: Client Relations Administrator at AmeriSys

For Mayra Cortes, wearing multiple hats isn’t something she simply balances—it’s something she embraces with purpose. As a Program Manager for the State of Florida, a mother, a ministry leader, and a mentor, Mayra moves through life with intentionality and heart. Her days are full, but her spirit remains grounded in something deeper: service.

“The most rewarding part of what I do is the relationships,” she shares. Whether it’s through work, community, or family, Mayra thrives when she’s connecting with others and creating spaces for people to grow. She has a natural gift for building systems that minimize chaos and maximize efficiency—a reflection of her love for organization and her belief in doing things with excellence.

Though she’s known for her fearless presence and leadership, those closest to her might lovingly call her “bossy”—a label she wears with a smile. She’s also described as a servant at heart, someone who shows up with compassion and strength, even on the busiest of days. Her personality shines through in every room she walks into: outgoing, meticulous, and always thinking five steps ahead.

Despite her many roles, Mayra makes it a point to care for herself in the quieter moments. A rare but deeply appreciated spa day gave her space to exhale. Self-care, she says, isn’t about luxury—it’s about rest, refreshment, fun, leisure, and joy. And nothing brings her joy quite like her grandkids. Their laughter, energy, and presence never fail to bring a smile to her face.

When it comes to inspiration, Mayra is quick to recognize the women who’ve shaped her journey. One woman who stands out is her mentor and boss of nearly 19 years, Cheryl Gulasa—a leader who has guided her professionally and spiritually, and who continues to model humility, integrity, and grace.

Mayra is currently pursuing her studies at the Bible Institute, always seeking to grow deeper in her faith and understanding. She describes herself as a night owl, often finding her best focus long after the world quiets down. Her idea of a perfect moment? A strong cup of coffee, a good book (or several), and a notebook always within reach. Inside her bag, you’ll find the essentials: hand sanitizer, a makeup pouch, a small medication box, and something to write in—because for Mayra, staying prepared is part of staying present.

She lights up when she talks about the holidays, especially Christmas. It’s not just the celebration—it’s the gathering of family, the honoring of cultural traditions, and the comfort of shared meals. For Mayra, those moments capture what she values most: love, legacy, and connection.

At her core, Mayra believes in uplifting others. She celebrates women not just with words, but through action—encouraging them, sharing her own story, and reminding them of their worth. She sees strength in every woman she meets and gently reminds them that their dreams are valid, possible, and worth pursuing.

In every way, Mayra Cortes is proof that you can lead with structure and soul. That you can be both busy and deeply rooted. And that the most powerful kind of leadership often begins with a simple desire: to serve.
