Each person's journey is unique, but this truth remains: your future holds greater potential than your past. You may wonder how this is possible, so let me tell you right away. Clearly, your past doesn’t define you, though some have been told or just assume that when challenges arise, your best is always what you had before your personal challenges.

Here’s why I totally disagree—

Reflecting on my childhood, I recall that the end of August always brought a sense of sadness. Despite the heat and humidity in Cincinnati, the end of summer meant shorter days and the return to school. I worried about the unknowns—new teachers, classes, and friends. I imagined endless possibilities that were never rooted in any proven facts. I stored all the “possibilities of what would happen during the first week of school in my memory. As an introverted child, I followed rules without question, doing what adults told me. I silently wondered what would be told to me weeks before school reopened from elementary through high school. It wasn’t until after college graduation that I began to consider what wasas compared to what could be.

Can you recall a pivotal time in your life when you analyzed your daily existence? Have you wondered if you were missing out on something greater? Perhaps you haven’t yet figured out your true purpose.
