Traci Krewson: Risk Manager at the City of Altamonte Springs

As the Risk Manager for the City of Altamonte Springs, Traci Krewson has dedicated the past seven years to safeguarding her community. With a career in the industry spanning 24 years, Traci’s expertise and passion for proactive risk management have made her a trusted resource and leader.

“My role involves identifying and mitigating hazards, managing claims, enhancing workplace safety, and ensuring compliance with regulations,” Traci explains. “I also collaborate with various departments to foster a proactive risk culture, ultimately helping the city operate safely and efficiently.”

For Traci, no two weeks—or even days—are alike. “Strategic chaos is the best way to describe it,” she laughs. “But I thrive in the ever-changing nature of this work. It keeps me on my toes and challenges me to adapt quickly.”

Her journey into risk management wasn’t a straight path. “Like many others, I stumbled into insurance claims and quickly discovered a passion for claim handling,” she recalls. “Risk management wasn’t initially on my radar, but when the opportunity arose, I saw it as a chance to apply my experience in a more proactive way. Transitioning into this field allowed me to shift from simply responding to claims to developing strategies that prevent workplace injuries and create safer environments. It’s been a rewarding journey.”

One of Traci’s favorite aspects of her role is being a go-to resource for her team. “I love helping to drive real change and make a difference,” she says. Her ability to collaborate and adapt has been key to her success. “Collaboration ensures effective risk mitigation, while adaptability allows for quick problem-solving in an ever-changing environment.”

Beyond her professional achievements, Traci’s personal journey has shaped her perspective. “My breast cancer journey truly changed who I show up as in life,” she shares. “I learned how to be vulnerable, sit with my fears, and allow myself grace every day. It’s been a transformative experience that’s taught me resilience and the importance of self-compassion.”

Traci’s commitment to growth extends to her personal life, where she finds balance through structured self-care. “As a Libra, I’m always seeking balance,” she says. “I build in time to exercise 4-5 times a week and rely on tools like Amazon to streamline my life.” Her solo wellness trip abroad last year was another step in prioritizing personal growth. “It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” she reflects. “I encourage all women to take time for themselves, step outside their comfort zones, and embrace experiences that bring renewal and inspiration.”

When asked about her biggest strength, Traci points to perseverance. “No matter the challenge, I stay focused, adapt, and push forward to find solutions that make a real impact—both in my career and personal life,” she says. This determination is evident in her outlook on the future of the industry.

“The workers' compensation landscape will undergo significant transformation over the next five years,” she predicts. “Advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will enhance workplace safety, reduce claims, and provide deeper insights into data. These innovations will improve outcomes for injured workers and drive greater efficiency and cost savings within the industry.”

Traci’s journey is one of resilience, resourcefulness, and a commitment to making a difference. From her adventurous zip-lining experience to her time as a makeup model for Benefit Cosmetics on the Home Shopping Network, she embraces life with a mix of courage and curiosity.

Her advice for others? “Be bright, be right, and be gone,” she says with a smile. And for those wondering what fuels her days, the answer is simple: “Coffee, of course.”

Through her dedication to her work, her community, and her personal growth, Traci Krewson exemplifies the power of resilience and innovation in risk management.
