Tell Us What You Do: Quinlan Medical Management

Written by Bloom Magazine

How does your organization serve the workers' compensation community?

Our company services the workers’ compensation community by providing medical assistance to the injured worker and the client. This enables the injured worker to get the help he needs to resume a more normal lifestyle and the client to get a positive and timely outcome on the file. QMM offers field case management, telephonic case management, and after-hours claim intake. Our clients know we are always a resource for them. They will reach out to us for recommendations or to discuss medical options.

What's the story behind the company? How did the company begin?

The Company began in 2003 with its Founder, Patricia Quinlan, who had 20 years of experience in the workers’ compensation and rehabilitation fields. She had worked in many modalities as a nurse. In the insurance industry, she worked as a Case Manager and helped develop programs, including audits and bill reviews. Before starting QMM, she had functioned as a Branch Manager for one of the largest TPAs in the industry. QMMs present Operating Officer is Claire Quinlan, who Attended college in Palm Beach and then left and went to work in the insurance industry. She worked for over 15 years as an adjuster before joining the firm in 2009. Claire brings to QMM all the knowledge she obtained from her previous experiences. She keeps all her licensures current and attends all seminars to keep abreast of any changes in our field. Like many professional women today, Claire is a mother Juggling school, soccer, and all other activities. Her years in the claims industry have made Claire aware of the need to show that inclusion is a cornerstone of the company. QMM values its staff and the loyalty and longevity of its case managers and administrative personnel. They are the bedrock of the company.

What are the company's vision, mission, values, and culture?

Our Vision is an Integration of strong ethical values in our cooperate workplace as we interact with our clients and those we serve. We are a woman-owned minority firm based in Floria with a presence in 20 other states. We share this goal with all we encounter. QMM is an inclusive company which is apparent throughout our history. It is a reflection of who we are. Our company’s mission is to provide the best medical care and assistance needed to help injured workers get back to full recovery and back to work.

Why should a new client choose your organization over those of your competitors?

Our company, like many great companies, is a family-owned business. We have been in insurance for many years. When you call us, you can talk to someone, not a machine needing to be transferred to different people. I have worked as an adjuster and have my all-lines adjuster license. I can bring both perspectives to the file. I know what the adjuster is looking for in a claim.

How can your organization/product/service solve customers' challenges?

As the work comp industry is growing, so is our company. We keep abreast of new technology, new laws, and updated information. We know that if there is an issue, we have the ability and tools to meet it.

If you could only list three things, what would you say are the top three things that make your organization different from your competitors?

We pride ourselves on our loyalty to others, going above and beyond, and treating the injured workers like we would like a family member to be treated. We ask our injured workers the same thing. We always ask 'WHY.' WHY is the adjuster referring to a file? Why are they having problems? Why are there communication gaps? This may sound simplistic, but how many times would an issue be resolved if someone had just asked why when it occurred? Lastly, we take ownership of our work on the file, but we know the person who handles the most responsibility for the direction, and the cost of the file is the claims person. They have an ultimate say in what path they will choose to handle their files.
