At Bloom Magazine, we take pride in featuring doctors trusted by employers, adjusters, and case managers for their skill, communication, and commitment to care. Dr. Sophia Deben, a board-certified orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon at International Orthopaedic Specialists in Miami, is one of those doctors. Known for her precision in the operating room and compassion with every patient, Dr. Deben is helping injured workers get back on their feet—literally and confidently.

A Miami native and daughter of Cuban immigrants, Dr. Deben graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School and earned a full Presidential Honors Scholarship to The George Washington University. There, she completed both her undergraduate and medical degrees. She later served seven years in the United States Navy through the Health Professions Scholarship Program, including a deployment supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dr. Deben credits her military service for shaping the way she practices medicine today. She brings urgency, accuracy, and clarity to every patient interaction. That includes timely communication, detailed documentation, and treatment plans built around the injured worker’s specific job duties and recovery goals.
She places a strong emphasis on early diagnosis and proactive care. After every visit, her team provides a completed DWC-25 form and ensures case managers and adjusters are updated with all relevant notes. This level of follow-through has made her a reliable resource for those navigating the workers’ compensation process.
Dr. Deben offers both traditional and advanced surgical options, including minimally invasive procedures, orthotics and bracing, rigorous rehabilitative exercise and regenerative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma, and stem cell injections. These options are considered when appropriate to support faster healing and reduced downtime.
She also partners with physical therapists, trainers, and local support professionals to help reduce the risk of re-injury. Whether it’s adjusting movement patterns or recommending proper footwear, Dr. Deben believes that prevention is a key part of long-term recovery.
Her practice is structured to support the unique needs of workers’ compensation cases. For scheduling, records, and coordination, her dedicated Workers’ Compensation Department can be reached directly at:
