Sherrill Wilson: Senior WC Claims Analyst at MV Transportation

Bloom Magazine is honored to spotlight Sherrill Wilson, a dedicated leader in the workers' compensation industry whose resilience, passion, and authenticity continue to inspire. Now serving as a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Analyst at MV Transportation, Sherrill brings over two decades of experience and a heart-centered approach to every aspect of her work.

Her journey to this role has been anything but linear. Sherrill began her career as a detention officer for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department before transitioning to the utilities sector after the birth of her daughter. “I never imagined I’d end up in workers' comp,” she reflects. “But once I became a Claims Assistant at a TPA, I found my calling.” That first role opened the door to a field where she could make a real difference—and 20 years later, she’s still doing just that.

Today, at MV Transportation, Sherrill specializes in claims oversight, bringing her expertise to a national network and advocating for improved processes that benefit both injured workers and the teams who support them. Her depth of knowledge, especially in TPA oversight and field safety support, makes her a go-to resource in the industry.

Sherrill’s impact reaches far beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. A passionate speaker and mentor, she serves as the 2024–2026 DFW RIMS Community Director Chair board member and regularly presents at industry conferences. “I love sharing what I’ve learned. The most rewarding part is knowing my voice matters and that my contributions help shape change,” she says.

Among the highlights of her career is the successful rollout of the MedCor Nurse Line at FedEx Ground—a project that spanned over 500 locations and delivered significant cost savings. “Being part of a team that trusted me to lead something so impactful really shaped my confidence and affirmed my path,” she adds.

Sherrill also understands the importance of balance. Whether she’s indulging in a monthly spa day, spending weekends fully unplugged with her family, or exploring her love of cooking and volunteering, she makes space for joy and self-care. “As women, especially in leadership, we often forget to put ourselves first. I had to learn that it’s not selfish—it’s necessary.”

Her personal story is just as powerful. A survivor of domestic violence and someone who has navigated deep personal losses—including the deaths of her younger sister, mother, and father—Sherrill speaks openly about her grief and healing. “There’s strength in sharing your truth,” she says. “It’s helped me, and it’s helped others. That kind of connection is everything.”

One of her proudest achievements is raising her daughter, a University of North Texas graduate now working as a teacher. And when a former employer once told her she wouldn’t succeed without a degree, Sherrill turned that doubt into drive—earning her bachelor’s degree in September 2023. “That moment was for every woman who's ever been told she wasn’t enough.”

This August, Sherrill will speak at the Workers’ Compensation Institute (WCI) Conference, joining a panel to discuss empathy toward injured workers—an area she champions fiercely. “At the end of the day, our job is about people. Their stories. Their lives. And how we show up for them.”

Sherrill Wilson’s story is one of grit, growth, and giving back. As she continues to lead with heart and purpose at MV Transportation, her legacy serves as a powerful reminder: no matter where you begin, it’s never too late to rise, speak up, and make a difference.
