Nathaniel Hill, MD, FAAOS: Orthopaedic Surgeon and Partner at South Florida Orthopedics & Sports Medicine

Nathaniel H. Hill, MD, FAAOS, a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and Partner at South Florida Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, has dedicated his career to restoring the health and functionality of injured workers. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Hill's expertise spans both surgical and non-operative management of orthopedic disorders, with a special focus on knee and shoulder injuries.

Dr. Hill's medical journey began at the University of Miami School of Medicine, followed by rigorous surgical internships and an orthopedic residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. His comprehensive training equipped him with the skills to handle a wide range of orthopedic issues in both adults and children. When asked about his specialty, Dr. Hill confidently stated, "Orthopedic Surgery." Over two decades, he has honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the complexities involved in treating work-related injuries. His philosophy is clear and patient-centered: "My intention is to get them back to their pre-injury level of function."

Dr. Hill emphasizes the importance of communication in his practice. "Good communication starts at the first visit," he explained. "We discuss what happened, their diagnosis, and the treatment plans. I want the patient leaving each visit with a clear idea of the treatment plan and the next step." This approach ensures that injured workers are well-informed and actively involved in their recovery process.

Prioritizing a safe and efficient return to work is a key aspect of Dr. Hill's treatment strategy. "We discuss the nature of their injury, as well as the activities and requirements of their job," he shared. "Even though they return to work, they may need to continue a treatment protocol." This thorough understanding helps tailor treatment plans that align with each worker's job demands while ensuring quality care.

Dr. Hill also stays informed of new technologies and treatments to enhance recovery. "We offer PRP injections to appropriate candidates if other modalities have not produced the desired outcome," he said. This innovative approach is part of his commitment to providing the best possible care.

However, the workers' compensation system is not without its challenges. "I would like to speed up the approval process for PT, MRIs, and surgical approvals," Dr. Hill mentioned. Streamlining these processes would significantly benefit injured workers by reducing delays in their treatment.

For seamless communication with adjusters, employers, or nurses, Dr. Hill ensures comprehensive and clear documentation. "We have a dedicated Workers' Compensation liaison in both of our offices," he noted. This dedicated support system enhances the coordination of care and facilitates efficient communication.

Dr. Hill's dedicated commitment to his patients' recovery, coupled with his expertise and innovative approach, makes him a pillar of support for injured workers. For more information, you can reach the Workers' Comp Coordinator directly at (772) 403-2298 or via email at WorkComp@SouthFlaOrtho.com.
