Jenn Ryan: Director of Operations, Client & Provider Relations at Read Reports Medical Review Services.

We had the privilege of speaking with Jenn Ryan, Director of Operations, Client & Provider Relations at Read Reports Medical Review Services. Jenn Ryan leads with compassion and expertise at Read Reports Medical Review Services, a women-owned company that specializes in scheduling Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) nationwide across all specialties and jurisdictions. With a strong background in hospitality, Jenn transitioned into the workers’ compensation industry after connecting with Corinne LaPolt, the company's owner. Her passion for customer service and dedication to excellence have made her an invaluable asset to the team.

"I got into the workers’ compensation industry through a connection with Corinne, the owner of Read Reports," Jenn explains. Initially hesitant to make the leap from hospitality, she was drawn in by the company’s commitment to exceptional customer service. "Corinne assured me that the cornerstone of the company was customer service, which I had extensive experience in, and she mentioned that the technical aspects could be learned over time." Four years later, Jenn has fully embraced her role and is thriving in the challenges it presents.

For Jenn, motivation comes from several sources. "Firstly, I have a deep passion for my job, largely because I work with an amazing group of women," she shares. She appreciates the opportunity to tackle challenges creatively and the positive impact her work has on the team and clients. Jenn values the daily opportunities for personal growth and learning that keep her engaged and excited. "The company’s commitment to a healthy work-life balance is crucial," she adds, emphasizing how it contributes to her overall well-being.

A typical week for Jenn is dynamic and involves close collaboration across various departments. She manages incoming job requests, oversees the credentialing team, coordinates evaluations, and collaborates with medical records, quality assurance, compliance, and billing teams. "Each file we handle goes through a comprehensive process to ensure all aspects are thoroughly addressed," she explains, underscoring the importance of teamwork in maintaining efficiency.

Jenn is currently focused on several key initiatives, including expanding the network of medical providers and refining services and processes. "We are in a continuous state of quality improvement," she notes, highlighting the company's dedication to service excellence. Her approach to networking involves a mix of word-of-mouth referrals, attending conferences, and engaging with potential clients, which helps maintain strong relationships in the industry.

Jenn draws inspiration from the leadership of Corinne LaPolt and Leslie Kinder, the president and vice president of Read Reports, respectively. "Their guidance and support have been invaluable to me," she says. As a woman leader, Jenn faces challenges such as effective communication within her diverse team and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. "Prioritizing the well-being of my team is crucial, as it directly impacts their ability to serve our clients effectively," she emphasizes.

For Jenn, empowering, supporting, and lifting other women is of paramount importance. "Seeing a dynamic group of women working together, leveraging each other’s strengths, and solving problems collaboratively is a testament to the strength of teamwork," she explains. This collaborative spirit not only enhances productivity but also creates a positive work environment. Outside of her professional endeavors, Jenn advocates for Autism Awareness, a cause close to her heart due to her son being on the spectrum.

"I am passionate about raising awareness, promoting understanding, and supporting initiatives that help individuals with autism and their families," she states.

When it comes to personal interests, Jenn is motivated by continuous learning and growth. "The best career advice I ever received was to always be curious and never stop learning," she reflects. Her favorite productivity hack is using a planner to organize her tasks effectively, allowing her to maintain a healthy balance between work and home life.

As the workers’ compensation industry evolves, Jenn acknowledges the importance of adapting to new trends and challenges. "Improved communication can lead to faster resolution of claims and better understanding of processes," she states, envisioning a future where transparency is prioritized. Jenn Ryan embodies the essence of leadership and empowerment in the workers’ compensation field. Her dedication to her team, her advocacy for autism awareness, and her commitment to continuous learning make her a remarkable force for positive change.
